About us
The Industrial Federation of Ethiopian Financial Institution Trade Unions is one of nine sector-level federations under the Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions (CETU), representing workers across Ethiopia’s banking and financial services industry. Led by President Desta Berhe, the Federation advocates on critical issues like wage protection, labor rights, and policy reforms within the financial sector. For instance, during planning for a Labour Day rally, President Desta highlighted the “passive approach” of the Ministry toward workers’ concerns and emphasized the need for solidarity within the finance labor force.
The Federation plays a key role in coordinating collective actions aimed at securing improvements in income tax policies, living conditions, and the establishment of a national minimum wage—a primary demand from CETU that also resonates within the financial sector. Its leadership actively participates in strategic assemblies at CETU’s headquarters and helps shape broader labor policy through union mobilization and engagement at the national level
